Ooh, Burn...

hey beautifuls, guess what this is... my HUNDREDTH POST! yup. I know this sounds gay but THANKYOU every single person who has looked, read, commented or smiled because of this blog. It means a lot to me, it really does :D

I've been away this week, sorry about the total lack of commenting - I plan to go on a rampage tonight! haha.

Anyway, I was glancing over style.com's runway coverage during my lunch break yesterday (as I do), and discovered something cringe-worthy and hideous.

Style.com’s Sarah Mower gave Elie Saab a delightful dressing down following the Fall Couture show. A restrained and graceful bombardment… it was brilliant. Saab’s show was pretty darn good, as conceded by Mower – but as she said, it was more thanks to Chanel than Saab.
These designs are beautiful, but don’t they ring a bell?

Anyone recall this, from Chanel’s Spring Couture show?

Subtle? Not a chance. The shows were even held AT THE SAME VENUE.

Mower asks the following very intelligent questions:

“Did he think the audience wouldn't notice?”

(she notices)

“Or does he really feel comfortable comparing himself to the Kaiser?”

Karl, unhappy.

“Or was he simply oblivious to what had taken place there six months ago?”

The Saab collection, though, was a lot less structured than Chanel’s, with tulle replacing starch and flowing skirts trading places with clean lines.

chanel...
saab...

Well, for the most part.
chanel...
saab...

Cropped white blazers, ¾ sleeves?
There’s a fine line between imitation being flattery and being a damn rip-off. This crosses it.

Oh Chanel, what beautiful shoulders you had back in Spring:

Oh Saab, what a blatant rip...

Wow Elie, what a gorgeous silhouette...
Sorry, that was actually the Genius' idea...

And oh Karl, what a genius idea your headpieces were:

Then along comes Elie Scaab.

LIKE SERIOUSLY CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT.

I think I've lost a lot of respect for someone. His designs are gorgeous, but he really is capable of designing his own beauty without so blatantly stealing Karl's intellectual property. Ugh. Not nice, really not nice. Or as Jennifer Aniston would say:
UNCOOL.

You guys rock :)

Oh yay! One hundred is so great! Congrats.

And okay first off, I told you I had breathing issues also and guess what...I got a puffer too! But everyone made fun of me for calling it a puffer. Haha. It's supposedly an "inhaler." Whatever.

Second, I was browsing through this on Style and I actually did notice a resemblance. But I was stumped, so thanks for pointing out that it was the couture show. Because I was browsing Chanel's archives like a maniac. I can't believe they were in the same venue though! And you know what? Even the makeup was similar. And gosh, an all-white collection...reminiscent is it not?

Really great post. I must say I enjoyed it. I've never been a fan of Saab anyway. Nice photo of Anna.

Happy 100! Wow, I wonder if anyone other than you has called the designer out on this. I can't personally wear white because I would spill something in a second.
